Reviewed on January 27, 2017If you notice some lag when you play your favorite games on your PC, then Smart Game Booster will help you to speed up your computer for a smoother experience. The software provides a simple way to temporarily shut down background processes and other unnecessary services. Although you can do this manually, the process is involving and requires a higher level of computer knowledge.
Using Smart Game Booster
The software installed fast and opened a dark-themed graphical user interface with four tabs on the upper part and a large button at the center. It opened the 'Boost' tab by default, and we could simply click the button to speed up our computer without making any custom configuration. However, a 'Configure' button just below the 'Boost' button allowed us to select the processes and services that we wanted to shut down.
The list of processes included their names, descriptions and memories while the services list displayed names and descriptions. The 'Advanced' button on the lower left corner of the configuration window let us set process and service whitelist. Once we had made the required selections, we clicked the 'Apply' button. We then clicked the 'Boost' button and the program took a few moments before displaying the percentage with which it had speeded the computer. It also listed the numbers of services and processes stopped as well as other actions taken, such as cleaning RAM and clearing the Clipboard.
The 'Games' tab gave us a simple way to optimize games by adding them to the game launching box. We added games by dragging and dropping them or their shortcuts into the launching box. We launched the games added to the box using just single mouse clicks, and we could play them in high and medium settings without lag.
The 'Tweak' tab allowed us to optimize games with a single click although it also featured an expert mode that enabled us to either import or export items. The 'Temperature' tab displayed CPU, GPU and motherboard temperatures as well as fan speed in figure and graph formats, with the details changing in real time. We could choose to display the details in full-screen gaming mode.
